Levi's JEANS 501 VINTAGE CLOTHING 1954 NAVY

Originally launched as the "501® Z", these 1954 Levi's® Vintage Clothing 501® jeans represent the expansion of Levi's® into new territories. Up to that point, Levi's® had been worn primarily in the West, where it had gained a loyal following. However, the East Coast was unfamiliar with this button fly work pant. To familiarise the East Coast with this American classic, Levi's® took the original 501® Shrink-to-Fit? jean and replaced the classic button fly with a zip and named it the "501® Z". He kept all the other details that longtime wearers loved: the famous silhouette, the rivets, and the tough but supple denim. Eventually, shops across the country began offering customers both options: the 501® jean and its zip-up sibling, the 501® Z. Today, for the 1954 501® jeans, we've recreated the latter in a classic selvedge denim fabric to help tell the story of the 501® and its evolution over the decades.
