Suede is the reverse side of leather, sanded to give it a soft and supple look. It is sourced from farms in Rio Grande do Sul and tanned in Brazil without the use of dangerous or banned chemicals. VEJA uses compliant dyes and uses little water during the tanning process. This suede is then coated with PFC-free water-repellent oils (chemical compounds) to protect the shoes from light rain.
