The black of the Roma leather is not a flat patent leather black: the waxed tanning leaves a somewhat grayish base in the flex areas, and after a few weeks the vamp already has its own light lines where the foot bends. The sole, also black, blends with the upper, so that the 5 cm of the block weigh less to the eye than they measure. Eyelets and laces come in the same tone; the only thing that breaks the surface is the back pull tab. It is the most compact version of the AMBERES 1953: a single color from top to bottom and the carved sole pattern as the only texture.

The volume of the sole makes you think of a rigid sole, and it is not. The cut of the grooves coincides with the joint of the toes: there the sole opens and gives way instead of levering against the forefoot. The lightness comes from Softlight, a very low-density sole material, and it is more noticeable the longer the day is. After a winter you can see where the boot works: dirt accumulates at the bottom of the flex grooves and not in the rest of the pattern.

Materials and construction

The Softlight sole has deep lugs and a straight edge, with a total height of 5 cm and a slope of 1.5 cm, so the stance remains almost flat despite the volume. A 360° stitch runs around the entire perimeter joining upper and sole; in black on black it reads as a line of dots barely visible against the light. On top, the Roma leather, waxed tanned: it absorbs water slowly, lightens at the creases and takes brushing and wax to recover depth. The lining is 100% microfiber and the interior is chrome-free tanned. The insole is removable, and the back pull tab and adjustable laces complete the closure.

Size guide

Stylized feminine last: narrow at the heel, regular at the forefoot, sizes 36-42. In width the Roma leather gives little, so the actual fit is achieved by the lace, eyelet by eyelet. The shaft has no zipper, so the first time it is advisable to undo the lace down to mid-height to get in comfortably and then tighten from bottom to top.
