Like any good fashion lover, fashion weeks are to me what Carrie Bradshaw is to a good pair of Manolos: there are never enough and we can't wait for the next one. It may seem frivolous, unnecessary or even repetitive, but nothing could be further from the truth. In just one week (about a month if you include Paris, Milan, New York and London), trends are decided, analysed and commented on on five continents. You could say that it is like a time machine that teleports us for a moment into the future to discover what and how we will dress, in what colours, and even if the curtain will be pinned or the layered cut will be worn. A kind of fabric and fantasy that invites us to dream, to express who we are and what we want to say about ourselves.
In this rigorous analysis, there are always certain garments or trends that cannot be overlooked - see JW Anderson's dove-shaped clutch or Loew's balloon shoes - and in this case, we could not fail to mention the monochrome looks. It is one of those perhaps invisible trends that are overlooked at first glance, but are repeated almost imperceptibly year after year. In the end, there is always a viral moment that captures the public's attention (and if not Bella Hadid in her now famous spray-painted dress).
In the collections of Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Jacquemus, Chanel, Valentino or Miu Miu for this spring 2023, the same trend is repeated. Everything in beige, Barbie pink, Klein blue... In short, everything in monochrome. So it is not difficult to imagine us walking around with the sun on our face in a completely white outfit, or going all out at night in one of those infallible 'total blacks'. Simple options to adapt to our wardrobe that will save us from more than one embarrassment and make us feel like we are on the catwalk.
